Emily Bartell's Medical Bills

Hi, I am reaching out to friends, family and the community to help my sister Emily with overwhelming medical bills. Emily is legally blind and has lived a very adventurous life in the face of adversity....On January 31st, Emily was walking her seeing-eye dog in the rain, trying to get her to use the bathroom. Between the conditions and the unfamiliar terrain, Emily misstepped off of a retaining wall, falling 10 feet to a concrete pad shattering her foot and breaking her shoulder. After surgery and several administrative fodders, Emily is in Sylva at Skyland receiving good care and much-needed physical and occupational therapy. However because of the way she was originally diagnosed her insurance is forcing her to self-pay to stay and get the care she needs. She is not supposed to put any weight on her foot for at least 8 weeks...making it impossible for her to go home and rehabilitate. We are trying to raise $10,000 to help her at least stay through the end of March until she can begin weight-bearing physical therapy. All funds raised will go directly to Skyland to cover as much of her self-pay portion as possible.
