Help Emily and her family give Reiff some amazing memories

My name is Lauren and I’m trying to raise money for my Friend and her precious baby boy Emily and Reiff. Emily is one of my closest friends of 6 years, she has been through so much in the short years I’ve known her but has always been so strong and remained positive. 6 weeks ago her little boy Reiff who is just over 18 months old was admitted to hospital due to him having seizures despite never having them before, on admission Emily and her family was told they didn’t know what was causing them and struggled to get them under control. As a result of this Reiff was admitted to PICU and sedated on a ventilator to help his little body rest. Some weeks passed by and they discovered Reiff had a viral infection that had traveled to the fluid in his brain, he was started on antiviral medication but still the seizures were not under control. The neurology team contacted Birmingham children’s hospital and were seeking advice from them and what to do next. On the 10th of may Emily and her family finally received a diagnosis, although unfortunately it tore their world apart. Reiff was diagnosed with a rare condition called mitochondrial disease, without going into great detail of how this condition will affect Reiff it means he won’t get enough energy to support himself in everyday life. Emily and her family have been told to live everyday as his last and make some memories as there is no cure or treatment for this disease. Reiff is still in hospital receiving rehabilitation, he has bad and good days but is fighting his way through and on the road to recovery of what will be his new normal. I want to raise money for Emily and her family to go and make some precious memories with their beautiful baby boy and to support her financially through this difficult time.
