Help Emilio "The Elote Man" Get Back on the Road

HELP EMILIO "THE ELOTE MAN" GET BACK ON THE ROAD.
On Sunday, November 10, 2019, a local and longtime resident of the East side named Emilio was struck by a vehicle while riding his "Elote cart" on Navigation Blvd. Emilio, also known as "The Elote Man" is banged up with a broken shoulder and other unknown injuries at the moment, but his only source of income and livelihood was destroyed and totaled.
Emilio is 76 years old and has no family here to help him. He lives alone and even at his age he is one of the hardest working men that you'll ever meet. He has been struggling for a while and this accident is a devastating blow. The goal of this fundraiser is to not only help replace his bike cart and work tools / items, but to also make Emilio's life a little easier by providing clothing, food, and funds that will help him get some long overdue medical attention such as dentures, and other physical illnesses.
It's difficult to determine what fundraising amount is sufficient in situations like this, so $10,000 is a dollar amount that we felt was a good start. A family that has known Emilio for over 30 years is helping facilitate fundraising and any other types of donations.
YOUR DONATIONS WILL BE USED FOR THE FOLLOWING:
- Purchase new bike cart, including all accessories such as: portable cooler, canopy attachment, bike lock, bike lights, portable radio, bike pump, and Any local bike shops that can donate any of these items please contact us.
- Purchase an adult tricycle that Emilio can use as regular transportation when not working on his elote cart
- Provide funds for medical treatment for injuries incurred in the accident. Emilio's major injury is a fractured shoulder that still requires medical attention and regular doctor visits.
- Provide funds for dental treatment. Emilio is only able to eat soft foods due to having few teeth and we'd like to help him receive long overdue checkups, treatment and possible dentures.
- Funds for food and clothing and other misc home items
- A good portion of funds will be used to help Emilio with rent and other living expenses, as he will most likely not be able to work for 3 - 4 months.
DISPURSEMENT & MANAGEMENT OF FUNDS
- The Galvan Family, which have been close friends to Emilio for over 30 years and at the request of Emilio, are working closely with Emilio to help manage donations and funds.
- A new account is being created for Emilio that will be the receiver of all Gofundme donations. Emilio will have access to these funds as needed, with the Galvan's offering assistance and guidance, especially in regards to medical treatments and payment of standard bills such as rent, phone, etc.
