Update 5/25: Emilio is recuperating. He has had 2 eye surgeries at UC Davis last one was yesterday to remove his eye. On seizure medication for now. His larger than life personality is still intact. He is still stubborn and funny. Through out this ordeal he has tried to comfort his family and has been apologizing to us! We still don’t understand why. He has never been involved with anything that would have led to this and neither are any of his friends.

Early this morning on 5/12, around 12:00AM my brother (19) became a victim of a drive by shooting. While he was walking up to our home, after coming back from dropping his girlfriend off, a car drove past our house, spotted him, whipped back around, slowed down, and shot at him. Emilio took cover behind our dad’s vehicle, but before he could completely duck for cover, he was hit in the face and shoulder with shotgun pellets. One of the pellets entered his eye and fragments spread throughout his skull. He was quickly taken to Enloe Medical Center, and later life flighted to UC Davis Medical Center where he is now waiting for surgery. This fund is to assist my parents, in order to pay for his medical expenses, their hotel stay, gas, food, and any other accommodations they may need in order to provide each of them some comfort and the accessibility to remain with my brother during this unfortunate time. Anything helps, even a prayer. Emilio is loved by everyone he meets. When he walks into a room, you’ll immediately know he’s there. His giant smile, personality, and confidence are magnetic. He has a good heart. Even through this experience he thinks of others before himself and wishes for their safety and happiness to come first. This unfortunate incident occurred on his birthday of all days, and his only wish was for his family and others to remain positive for him.
