Emilio Finds His Way

For those of you who know Deni and Jesse, you are aware of how humble they are and how hard it is to ask for help even during the most difficult times. Jesse and Deni’s 3.5 year old son, Emilio, was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor in February 2018.  Emilio underwent surgery and rehab and was hospitalized in New York City for nearly a month. Emilio’s amazing strength and spirit got him back on track soon after surgery but unfortunately follow up scans have recently shown regrowth of the brain tumor. Emilio’s parents have sought the best treatments for Emilio and have traveled across the United States to meet with the most knowledgeable experts on this rare tumor. The family is currently out of state in Boston, Massachusetts to undergo the best treatment for him that is unavailable in New York. Jesse has been out of work caring for Emilio for nearly a year. Meanwhile, Deni has exhausted New York’s Paid Family leave and is now taking an unpaid leave of absence from her job while Emilio goes through 6 weeks of treatment in Boston. We are asking for support for the family to help cover the costs of travel, medical expenses, bills, food, while being away from their home and not having any income during Emilio’s treatment. We are asking people to keep Emilio in your thoughts and prayers. Although this is a difficult time, Emilio continues to be a happy, smart, and loving boy and we hope he will soon be running around in the purple park with all his friends.
