Hello friends!
I’ve decided to go back to school and I’m looking for some financial support to make this possible. As you are probably aware, COVID-19 has effectively shut down the live music industry for the forseeable future. I will not be able to return to being a fulltime freelance violinist for a very long time.
I’ve decided to transition my way into becoming an editor. Yes, for writing. I love being a part of the process of improving something until it reaches its full potential. As an artist, I’m constantly looking to improve my performances and recordings through practice, constructive criticism, and attention to detail. As an editor, I would be doing something very similar with publications, documents, articles, books, and everything in between.
I’ve already been accepted to the University of Washington’s Certificate of Editing Program . It’s an online program with 3 consecutive courses, which will take me less than a year to complete. I did apply for their financial scholarship, but was notified yesterday that they were only able to award 15 scholarships out of over 100, and I did not receive one.
The breakdown of costs is as follows:
Tuition: $3,285
Application and Registration fees: $215
I’m asking my friends and family to support me in this new endeavor. This is an expensive program that I cannot afford on my own. Anything helps, and thanks for reading!
Love, Emilie
