In loving memory of Emilie Judith

Mental health affects us all.

It’s becoming an epidemic in our children, young adults and our loved ones.

My beautiful daughter succumbed to the excruciating pressures and took her own life early Father’s Day morning, in Texas, on 06/15/2025 at the age of 21 years young.

Emilie Judith had many passions and dreams.

She took the world by storm, walking at 10 months and beginning to talk short after.

Overly bright and intelligent. Excelled at everything at a young age. Was my little “Einstein”

But with that, came a bi-polar disorder that was diagnosed early.

Was interested in modelling at a young age, went to training and competitions, and did very well.

Appeared in early teen modelling calendars, in a commercial, and had some offers from the top agencies. A Cindy Crawford interview comes to mind.

Had a passion of music, played the flute in high school, and excelled.

She had a dream of wanting to become a JAG lawyer in the US military.

Changes started to happen mid teens. Major personal events took away her innocence.

Depression set in, combined with bi-polarity, medications/therapy became the norm.

Anxiety and cyber-bullying followed.

Emilie hated the meds, made her feel numb and stupid.

As a long-distance Dad (in Canada), there were challenges. Blocks of time went missing and we would reconnect and then disconnect again. I could see that her mental changes/swings consumed her.

The last few years we made a concerted effort to stay in touch everyday, even with just a simple “Good Morning”. Had in-depth conversations about the past, present and future.

Emilie had her good days and bad ones. I fought her negativity with positivity, thinking maybe it would reverse her path. She understood the challenges involved and knew how hard it was to achieve them. This could not be solved with a “snap of a finger”. Little baby steps, at a time.

I thought she was coming around, but the pressures won.

I miss her, with all my heart and soul. She never said "Goodbye", but one day we will say "Hello"

For her memorial, I am supplying a Tree and Bench Dedication at a local park close to home, with this, comes a personalized plaque, so I may visit and remember.

Please do not feel compelled to donate, but if you do, much appreciated, and I thank you in advance.

My wish is to spread Emilie’s story. A part of my healing process. I am not overly social media savvy. Ultimate goal is to spread her message to others, awareness of the issue, and maybe, just maybe help others.

Please share with your friends and family.

You may donate to the Canadian Centre for Addiction and Mental Health(CAMH) in Emilie's memory. Please remember *988 Crisis line for any mental health emergencies/questions for you, or your loved ones.

The best memorial you could provide is, to hug your kids tightly (even if they squirm), and/or call them up, and tell them how much love you feel for them. Mental health does not discriminate by age, do not forget your friends and family.
