Hey there!
My name is Emiel. Those of you who know me will know I’ve always felt a bit out of place in my own skin. Puberty was rough, and developing feminine attributes that didn’t match how I felt internally left me self-conscious for years.
I’m now at a point where I can openly admit that my chest has never felt right for me. It doesn’t align with who I am, and top surgery is something that would genuinely change my life for the better.
Sadly, trans healthcare in the UK is in a very difficult state. The waiting time for top surgery on the NHS is close to twenty years, not including the wait just to get into a gender clinic. I joined the waiting list in 2021 and still haven’t even had a triage appointment. If I relied solely on the NHS, I’d likely be over 50 before I ever reached surgery.
I’ve already paid £1000 to start testosterone privately, and the cost of top surgery has risen significantly. Despite saving, I just can’t afford it in the current climate. I know this is a big ask, and even taking the time to read this means a lot to me.
Many thanks,
Emiel
