Emery was born profoundly deaf in both ears and we were blessed to learn she qualified for cochlear implants. She has had them since she was 13 months old & we recently got an email letting us know that Cochlear Americas is discontinuing her current model of implants and she will have to upgrade by June 2018, maybe even sooner. Our insurance will only cover $14,000 of the $20,000 it takes to get two new implants AND after that we will have to pay for every new part she needs until we reach our deductible again (within a year).
