Emersyn’s Relapse with Cancer
Donation protected
Update: on January 24, 2024, Caitlyn got the call that Emersyn has relapsed. She has one new spot on her hip. It’s a new spot that wasn’t radiated on last summer. She is going to have another MRI done today on her hip so they can study it more and take it to the tumor board on Tuesday when they have their weekly meetings. It’s potentially 1 yr of chemotherapy + Immunotherapy. The liver MRI she had done this am also showed a lot of extra ferritin on her liver so they want to remove that but it’s not a priority right now. Curie Score is now 1/30.
Hi, my name is Stephanie and Emersyn (9 1/2 years old). is my niece. Emersyn has been complaining on and off for a few months that her legs have been hurting her. It was chalked up to growing pain as she’s been sprouting like a bean pole. The pediatrician did blood work and everything looked fine. They referred us over to the orthopedic dr and they did X-rays and said she possibly did something to her lower back and would like to get a MRI to get a closer look. This made a little sense since she just finished spring season of soccer and softball and she could have easily jammed or landed on her back wrong.Friday afternoon we went to Sheridan for her MRI and they found a mass. The pediatricians office quickly got on the phone with Children’s and they said they wanted us down there that night. Saturday they did a CT scan with contrast and located the mass. It’s about 5 cm coming off nerves in her spine.
Emersyn has been diagnosed with metastatic high risk neuroblastoma. It’s usually found in children younger than her. Treatment will last roughly 1 1/2 yrs IF things go as planned. She will travel back and forth every two weeks for treatment from Buffalo, WY to Aurora, CO. This is a HUGE burden on Caitlyn as she has Aspen, Emersyn’s 1 year old sister, in tow. Please, if you can spare any money, Caitlyn will need it for gas and other expenses as it is a 6 hour drive one way. Please say prayers for our girl❤️
For those local to Buffalo, there is a bank account set up at 1st Interstate Bank in Emersyn’s name.
