Emerson Carvalho was a father, husband, brother, son and friend. Following a cardiac arrest on Aug. 30, 2019, Emerson had to be placed on life support and it was determined that he had suffered severe brain damage, which put his and his family's life on a path full of hardships and challenges in every aspect of their lives. In the two years that followed, Emerson had been fighting hard and defying all odds by making great progress on his road to recovery, showing strong faith, gratitude, perseverance and even his big smile.

Due to the high cost of the treatment in US, and very little support from the governamental health system, the family made a decision to transfer Emerson to continue his intensive care in Brazil since November 2020. Unfortunately, on Thursday, Aug. 5, 2021, Emerson passed away in Brazil unexpectedly due to a generalized infection.

This GoFundMe page is on behalf of Emerson’s wife, Gigi and their 12-year-old son, Samuel to help with expenses that include funeral costs, travel tickets to/from Brazil and a few other necessary expenses that the family was not prepared for. We know many had already helped Emerson and Gigi in many different ways in the last two years, so any donation would be greatly appreciated.
