Dear friends,

I’m writing today with news I truly never expected to have to share. Just days ago, I learned that Emerging Artists Theatre Company’s funding from New York City was cut by $20,000 for the upcoming season. A core piece of our public funding has now disappeared — and it has left a real and immediate gap.

For over 33 years, Emerging Artists has been a safe, supportive home for diverse theatre-makers — a place where artists can take risks, tell bold stories, and grow. We charge no submission or participation fees, and artists receive 50% of the box office, because we believe deeply that artists’ work has value and deserves to be paid.

Each year, we support more than 120 artists across dance, musicals, plays, and solo work. We survived the pandemic. We stayed committed to our mission.

The $20,000 that was cut was meant to cover theatre rental and technical staff — the very basics that allow artists’ work to be seen. Losing it now was a devastating surprise.

So, in this rare and unforeseen moment, I’m asking:

If you’re able to help — at any level — toward our $20,000 goal, it would make an immediate and tangible difference.​

No matter what, Emerging Artists will keep doing what we’ve always done — supporting artists with care, respect, and heart. And with your support, I promise I’ll still be there this April at the Spring Spark Festival — smiling, cheering artists on, and probably offering a freshly baked cookie.
