Our little Lucy Goose just had her spaying surgery. All the money we had to spare was put towards her surgery as we wanted to have one of our regular vets do the surgery. Lucy's mother, Moochie died as a result of a local low cost spay and neuter clinic and we had conflicting diagnosis as to why it happened so we were not going to take chances with Lucy. We did also get her insurance, but they don't refund as much as we need them too, but that's how it goes.
Lucy's surgery went well, but her recovery has not gone as smoothly, she was vomiting/dry heaving and also having fits when she was startled awake. She would throw herself around her soft crate freaking out until we could calm her down. We were very concerned that she could have injured the surgical site after a big fit around 3 am so we took her in to the 24 hour emergency vet. We were turned down for financing despite having a good record with paying back similar loans in the past. The cost was about half of their original estimate after we had to pare down her treatment to the necessities.
She is home and doing much better. I did file a claim with her insurance, but it will be a few days before we know if they will pay it out and it's only 80% so we'll come up short when the payment arrives.
Since all the money we had went to Lucy, we had to borrow our rent money to cover. We're just wanting to repay the money as things have been very tight this last year, so money has not been stretching very far. We've been flying without a safety net since this last summer it's taken its toll.
We didn't want to take any chances with Lucy. I raised her from the day she was born feeding Lucy with an eyedropper when Moochie lost all interest. Taking her to the vet has helped, she is resting more comfortably, eating a little and using her litter box. She hasn't had a fit since we came home. I am in touch with her regular vet and we have a follow up next week that is free of charge. Thanks everyone.
