*UPDATE*
Banjo had his bloodwork rechecked today and his liver enzymes are going down! He’s doing so much better, acting like his normal puppy self again :)
Six weeks ago, I found Banjo in the Ocala National Forest and have been fostering him since. I foster animals as much as I can out of the kindness of my heart because I believe every animal deserves a chance. As a vet tech, I know I can’t save them all—but I’ll always try. What I wasn’t prepared for was a serious emergency like this with a foster.
The other day, I came home to find Banjo vomiting, stumbling, and then he collapsed. His gums were very pale and had started labored breathing. We rushed to the emergency vet, where he was diagnosed with anaphylaxis, a serve allergic reaction, from a bug bite. He received life-saving treatment, but his liver values are very high and he’ll need medications and a recheck soon.
The emergency visit and follow-up care are more than I can manage on my own. Any amount helps cover Banjo’s medical bills so he can recover and continue on his journey to a forever home. If you can’t donate then I encourage you to at least share this post.
Thank you for supporting Banjo.
