Help Save Riley: Emergency Care for a Sweet 3-Year-Old Japanese Chin Chihuahua

Early this morning, our family faced every dog parent’s nightmare. Riley, my sister’s 3-year-old dog, suddenly began vomiting and passing large amounts of blood with clots. We rushed him to the emergency animal hospital, where he was diagnosed with hemorrhagic gastroenteritis (HGE)—a sudden and potentially fatal condition if not treated immediately.

Riley is now hospitalized, receiving life-saving IV fluids, medications, and around-the-clock monitoring. The doctors are running urgent tests to stabilize him and find the cause. The vet explained that fast treatment is his best chance of survival.

Although Riley does have pet insurance, we were shocked to learn that the insurance does not cover the cost of this emergency treatment. This unexpected gap has placed a heavy a heavy financial burden on my sister’s family. The cost of emergency care, tests, and ongoing treatment is already overwhelming. We want to give Riley every chance to heal and come home, but we can’t do it alone.
