Emergency Vet Fund for Katie's Recovery
Latest Update: Doctor Gilbert managed to save her leg and she's doing well. So far. She will have her cast taken off her front leg next week. And I will have more updates at that time.
Update: Our vet is willing to attempt the surgery to piece her femur in place. She is going in tomorrow morning Feb. 13th. Her recovery may be long, but we're prepared for the long haul. I am humbly grateful all that are willing to help. -Laura
My name is Nicolette Ruelle, and I’m asking for help with emergency vet expenses for my mom’s Great Pyrenees. On February 10th, 2025, Katie slipped her lead and got struck by a vehicle. She is suffering from a clean snap in her front left leg, but her back femur is shattered. The vets she’s taken her to won’t touch the injury due to her needing an orthopedic specialist to preform surgery on her left hind leg. That surgery alone is quoted to be $7,000, and the extra $1000 would be to hopefully cover the expenses of the front leg break and her X-Rays and scans. Neither of us have the money to afford this, but we would like to do everything in our power to get her healthy again. Her sister was the one to lead my mom to where Katie was hiding in the garage after my mom spent the day trying to find her. She is going in to see a specialist tomorrow (2/11/25) and we will update with information as soon as we know more. She does not appear to have internal injuries as per the scans we currently have, so we have hope for a full recovery.
