Emergency Vet Costs for Brownie Bear

Our sweet, loving Brownie Bear was attacked by another dog in the late morning of July 12th, 2025.

While we were on the phone with 911, we were able to find a local vet to wrap him up and stop the bleeding.

We were then advised to travel further away from home to the Twin Cities, which is 1 1/2 hours away from us, to get him to a vet who could potentially help save him.

We unfortunately got there when it was too late to perform the emergent surgery that they thought could potentially save him for the day, and we couldn’t afford the other recommended vet stay/surgery.

The vet who cared for him was going to perform a surgery on him the morning of July 13th if he made it through the night. They gave us pain meds and some food to try and feed him throughout the evening/night.

We booked a hotel room so we were nearby for any emergencies, and we stayed there with no personal belongings with us, other than a blanket for him. We cared for him as best as we could in these circumstances. Kiarra had fallen asleep while I stayed awake to care for him. I then fell asleep for 45 minutes, and he woke us both up around midnight with some noises.

We immediately knew we had to rush to the Pet ER nearby, but when Kiarra picked him up off the bed, he was slowly dying in her arms as we were heading to the ER.

The ER confirmed that he passed away, and we then chose cremation for him, as we currently live in an apartment and didn’t have a place to bury him. Plus, he deserved a great memorial as he was our social butterfly who greeted us with smiles almost every day!

Kiarra is my teenage daughter, and I am a single mother who is currently employed full-time, with a part-time delivery job. With this tragic accident and loss, it has caused some financial burdens, and we are such caring friends/people to whomever is in our life, and we don’t ever ask for much! We just have been faced with some difficulties of our own.

With your help, I will be able to grieve our loss with Kiarra more, as she too needs me during these difficult times. Anything helps!
