Emergency Vet Care for Tommy Brown
Donation protected
Hi Family, Friends, and Neighbors,
Bear with me as we have never thought to do a GoFundMe page until now. Our neighbors, Alan and Catherine Brown, had tragedy strike their family this week. They have a puppy dog named "Tommy" that was viciously attacked Wednesday, 02/26, by another neighbor's dog while on his morning walk, which sent him to the Vet Emergency Hospital and is currently "touch & go," fighting for his life. The 60lb husky pushed open his backyard gate and attacked Tommy. Alan had to get the husky off Tommy, run home, and go to the hospital.
I want to give a testimonial to add substance to how horrible this is for their family. Ten years ago, the Browns drove to Florida and back to get this Yorkie puppy who happily was named Tommy. Tommy quickly became the dog everyone in our 77-home neighborhood knew as his wonderful personality brightened up whomever he met. Beyond that, Alan (who is 84) is the neighborhood patriarch as they were one of the first families here. Alan walks his best friend "Tom" several times every day, rain or shine. They never fail to stop and speak with anyone that listens. Alan knows everyone in this neighborhood by name. He and Tom know all the kids and other dogs. Needless to say, Tom is the Browns' only child.
Heidi and I also consider them family as we have grown close to them because of Tommy. We also have a small dog named "Cash." Cash and Tommy have become friends over the years. When they go out of town and can't take Tommy, he stays with us. Of course, Tommy is on a super special diet, so Catherine makes bags with all Tommy's meals portioned out and prints a sheet with instructions for us every time, even though we have taken care of him more times than we can count :-). They in turn take care of Cash when we are gone; we do not make to-go bags. Cash loves eating over at Tommy's house.
I can't explain in words what Tommy and the Browns mean to this neighborhood and our friends and family. Love is the best word to describe it.
With all this said, Tommy is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries including unrepairable broken ribs. IF Tommy survives, God willing, he will be limited with what he can do and will need medical care beyond what is being given to try and save him. He will have floating ribs which will not fully protect his organs. The Browns are doing everything to try and save Tommy, which has a very large cost for all the medical expenses. The hospital bill to date is $10,000 but they have to try; he's their child. Tommy literally brings life to both of them, especially Alan. Tommy is Alan's best friend.
