Update 2: Sunny is home after invasive bad kitty tummy surgery this afternoon performed by our amazing vet who, along with his staff, stayed late to finish Sunny’s surgery and get him home to us.
He’s going back tomorrow for observation to make sure everything is a-okay, but for now, we seem to be out of the woods!
Thank you all so much. Your generosity and kindness has overwhelmed us completely, and we love each and every one of you.
Update: We took Sunny in to our wonderful vet and after radiographs and bloodwork, they discovered a foreign body in his digestive tract and surgery will be required, so we have had to increase our funding goal.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and shared already. I love each and every one of you more than words.
Sunny is our 7-year-old orange tabby cat, and he needs our help.
Dakotah and I came home yesterday to find him suddenly very sick. We have no idea what’s wrong with him, and as most of you know, I lost my job in October and we’ve been barely squeaking by while I try to find a new one in this dogshit market.
Sunny is a special cat. He was found in my parents’ neighborhood as a kitten when his owners moved and decided to just leave him outside. For a few scary nights, he managed to keep himself alive until my parents’ neighbor’s wonderful little girl brought him to our attention. He was supposed to be my parents’ cat, but he attached to me right away (and he made his preference clear by peeing on their bed), so he came to live with me.
Since Dakotah moved in, she and Sunny have become a powerful cuddling duo, and if he had his d’ruthers, he’d be on someone’s lap purring away 24/7. If you’ve ever had an orange cat, you know that they’re special.
That’s how we know there’s something really wrong with him. He’s lethargic and hiding from us, something he’s never done, and we need to get him to a vet as soon as possible. Worst case, he ate something and has an intestinal blockage, and will need to have surgery, hence the large amount we’re trying to raise.
Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. I know everyone is struggling right now, but if you have a little extra to spare for my little orange menace, I’ll love you forever. He’d probably love you forever either way, because that’s how he is.
