This is a fundraiser for Dennis and his mini Aussie, Porter. Porter had to get emergency surgery after he was attacked by a dog earlier this week and it's been an expensive and difficult week for both of them. We're concerned neighbors trying to get Dennis some reprieve from medical bills and lost work hours. Any overage funds will be gifted to Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) on Colfax for other dogs/owners who can't afford emergency care.
Sunday morning early, Dennis took Porter out to go to the bathroom (10th & Penn) and was almost instantly shocked as he watched a large dog lunge at Porter. It was dark and turned into chaos, so Dennis didn't get a good look at the other dog or owner as they took off quickly.
Porter has now had two emergency surgeries and will be on a slow road to recovery with Dennis' help. Dennis, a local barber, can't easily afford more vet care and is having to take days away from work to be home with Porter and keep an eye on him, thus making it even more difficult to afford the care. These two moved to Denver a year ago and don't have much community in the area to lean on. Dennis says,
"Any money raised will go to his care, bills, and whatever happens along the way until he can be alone and is healed. I am not the type to ask for help, but this time I cannot do it alone.
So, I am leaving my pride at the door."
Let's show Dennis the warmth in our community, Capitol Hill and Denver. Thank you for your consideration.
