Emergency Vet Care for Dachshund Fighting for His Life

Donation protected
Hello,

This is Orynn. He is my daughter Caitlin's dog and is only two years old. Saturday evening, she gave him a dental treat. He threw up a little bit later, but that happens sometimes, so she didn't think anything more of it as he seemed to be okay.

When she woke up Sunday, he was drooling at the mouth, cool to the touch, would barely respond, and wouldn't eat or drink. She rushed him to the emergency vet because that is the only option in our area on a Sunday.

His red blood cells were high, and he was lethargic, dehydrated, and in shock. They gave him fluids and warmed him up but had trouble keeping him stabilized, and he was still showing signs of dehydration. They are thinking it is either pancreatitis or a blockage from the dental treat he had. They are keeping him overnight and monitoring him. The cost is extremely prohibitive. Our family loves him, and we all will be pitching in what we can to help pay the bill, but she was quoted $3,500 for the one night of care. Should he have to stay longer or need surgery for a blockage, those costs could rise.

Caitlin didn't want to ask anyone for help, but she's the first person to help her friends when they need something. No one should have to choose between getting the care needed for a beloved pet and going into heavy debt or losing a young, vibrant puppy.

Anyone who has ever met Orynn instantly loves him. He is a good boy, and he deserves a fighting chance to get better. He loves everyone and every other animal. He also enjoys a good belly rub. I pet sit him occasionally, and he is so lovable. It breaks my heart to think of him not feeling well.

Caitlin is very cautious about what she feeds him, and he has had the treats before but hadn't had one in a while. She's upset with herself, but there is no way she could have foreseen this happening.

Times are tough right now, but if you have an extra $10 or $20 to spare, it could make a huge difference for him and give Caitlin some peace of mind that she'll be able to afford whatever he needs to get him well. No amount is too small. It all adds up and will help.

You can also donate directly to Jefferson Animal Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

We will post updates as we have them so you can follow his story. We appreciate whatever help you can provide. Prayers, shares of this GoFundMe, or a small donation. Whatever you do will make a difference. If we all work together, we can help Orynn and give Caitlin some peace of mind over finances. Thank you so much!
