Emergency Vet bill for Leela
Donation protected
Leela had to be taken to the Emergency Vet clinic in Coeur D Alene on Thursday, I picked her up from daycare and she couldn't jump into the car by herself, was extremely lethargic and was shaking and shivering.
She spent the night at the emergency clinic and I took her to her primary vet on Friday morning to be monitored at a lesser cost (the emergency clinic charged $130 every 12 hours while her main vet only charged a $90 one-time fee).
She's home now, and has many rounds of meds, but will need to go back to the clinic to get a second x-ray in a week.
Her issues were kind of a 'perfect storm', it all happened quickly and at once. She does have pneumonia, which is resulting in a horrible cough and vomiting. She has gastro issues, including water or liquid in her intestines which is resulting in blood in her stool. Her vitals are normal, luckily, but she's so lethargic and has shortness of breath.
Leela is 6 years old and full of energy and love, we've never had any issues, so this has been the worst 24 hours of my life, it was all so unexpected and happened so quickly.
Between Ultrasounds, X-rays, IVs, medicine, and everything else, I've spent almost $2000 in less than 24 hours. I want to be transparent and say I've spent every penny of my rent, plus I borrowed from my family to cover the cost, but now we're stuck in a hard spot of having literally no money for anything else that may come up. There was no question about spending the money to get Leela better, she is my whole world and I would do anything to keep her healthy. I at least have Leela home safe right now and just want her to curl up next to me and be as comfoprtable as possible.
