The health of Palestinian people is fragile and needs our help. Hebron Hospital is the busiest Emergency Department in the West Bank, with over 156,000 patient visits every year. Yet they are severely under-resourced and are often limited in the care they can provide to their patients.
One tool that can significantly improve the delivery of emergency care in Hebron is point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). The use of POCUS in the emergency department has become standard of care in developed countries. Ultrasound in the ER is used to assess the health of a fetus inside the mother, start intravenous lines, access large blood vessels, measure the heart output, evaluate for internal bleeding, identify collapsed lungs, and many other live-saving applications.

The Butterfly iQ is a low cost, portable ultrasound probe that can connect to any smartphone to provide real-time, detailed images of the inside of the body. This project aims to provide Butterfly devices to the Hebron Hospital ER. I will go and teach the use of these devices to local physicians leaders, who will in turn train their students and residents in the use of POCUS.
The goal of this fundraiser is to purchase two Butterfly iQ probes to bring to Hebron Hospital, teach their use, and leave them there for the local physicians to use to provide critically needed emergency care. Please help improve the lives of the Palestinian people.
