Veteran Family Emergency Travel & Final Expenses

Hi!

My name is Christine and I'm asking for help raising money to be able to have my family see my Dad before he passes from a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Steve is a retired Army Veteran of 22 years service and still living in Germany. He is still serving our military families overseas since 1996 in the Child Development Center on post in Baumholder Germany. Steve is in a german civilian hospital and recently lost his medical coverage through the DOD due to his age. Any excess funds over our family travel and out of work expenses will go towards medical and final expenses.

We have not been able to visit since my son was 4 years old, he is now 16. I just found out about a week ago that my father was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. After being in the hospital for a few days he was given a diagnosis of intestinal cancer that would kill him within the week if surgery was not performed. The cancer has already spread to his liver and kidneys. The hospital told him he needed emergency surgery for his bowels, which was done 8/17, he is currently in the ICU. He will need chemo and even then his prognosis does not give him much longer to live.

The reason I'm doing this fundraiser is to help with expenses to get to Germany and to help with paying bills while we are there and I'm out of work. My husband Patrick, also an Army Combat Veteran, will be helping with getting his VA benefits taken care of while the family gets his house and affairs in order. I would very much like my family to be able to see and care for him while we still can as my mother and father are the only family there in Germany.
