Hi, I’m Melanie and I’m Liam’s mom.

Recently, Liam got very sick very fast. What started as a brief fever and gut pain turned into multiple ER visits and a diagnosis we never saw coming: a perforated appendix with an abscess. His appendix had already ruptured, which made everything more complicated and scary than we could have imagined.

Liam ended up needing a CT, surgery, a hospital stay, IV antibiotics, and ongoing follow-up care. Watching your child go through something like that is terrifying. He was incredibly brave through all of it, and I couldn’t be more proud of him.

While our entire focus was on getting Liam through surgery and back home for Thanksgiving, the medical bills started piling up quickly. Between emergency room visits, imaging, surgery, hospital care, medications, and follow-ups, the costs added up fast, even with insurance. Like a lot of families, this wasn’t something we were prepared for financially.

We’re so grateful that Liam is on the mend! His recovery is what matters most. At the same time, the stress of the medical expenses has been heavy during an already overwhelming time.
