Meet Jack Moo
Jack Moo is my beautiful, sweet Basset Hound with the gentlest soul and the droopiest ears you’ve ever seen. He brings joy, comfort, and unconditional love to everyone he meets. He is not just a dog. He's my family.
A Life-Threatening Emergency
Last week, I rushed Jack Moo to the emergency hospital when his stomach suddenly bloated and he became critically ill. He was diagnosed with GDV (Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus) - a deadly condition where the stomach flips and cuts off blood flow. GDV is fatal if not treated within 1–2 hours.
Without immediate surgery, he would not have survived.
Critical Care
During emergency surgery, veterinarians discovered they also had to remove his spleen. Although the surgery was successful, Jack Moo faced more complications:
- He developed pneumonia
- He required oxygen therapy
- He remained hospitalized for an entire week in critical care
Watching him fight to survive has been heartbreaking, but he is strong and stubborn and a trooper! He is finally on the mend and getting stronger every day!
The Financial Reality
The total cost of emergency surgery, hospitalization, oxygen therapy, and critical care has reached nearly $25,000- not counting follow up visits and fees.
I was willing to do whatever it took to save Jack. Even if it meant depleting my savings, maxing out all my credit cards, and borrowing thousands... The financial burden is overwhelming, but I didn't see dollars and cents. I only saw life and death. Money is replaceable. Jack Moo is not.
