On April 25, 2026, I was rushed to the hospital with an abscess and a perforated bowel. This led to emergency surgery, where doctors had to remove 7.5 inches of my colon and place a colostomy bag. The experience was sudden and overwhelming, and I am still adjusting to the changes in my daily life.
Since the surgery, I have used all the PTO I was able to get at work, but unfortunately, I do not qualify for FMLA because I have not been at my job long enough. This means I will be out of work for about 3-4 months before I can return, even on light duty. The medical bills and the ongoing cost of medical supplies, especially the ostomy bag, are adding up quickly, and it’s been difficult to keep up with everything on my own.
I am only 35 and never imagined I would be in this position. It’s embarrassing to ask for help, but I am reaching out to friends, family, and my community for support during this challenging time. Any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference and help me focus on healing. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. God bless you all.
