Emergency surgery fund for Tere
Our Aunt Tere was recently diagnosed with having a brain tumor. She had been feeling ill since November with symptoms of chronic headaches, vision impairment, loss of appetite, and always wanting to sleep. She did visit a family doctor before symptoms got worse but they just prescribed her antibiotics. Within a few weeks our aunt’s symptoms progressed severely causing slurred speech, confusion, weakness to lower extremities, unable to walk on her own and memory loss. Unable to do anything on her own, her sister Dora traveled to Mexico to assist her with her daily living and push forward on her medical diagnosis. After getting a CT scan, the results revealed a tumor on the left side of her brain right above her ear that was very inflamed. She saw a neurosurgeon who stated he can operate on her and remove the tumor. He has given her a 90% chance of survival. The cost of the surgery is approximately $8,000. Our aunt has to travel about 2 hours to/from the remote ranch she lives in to the city of San Luis Potosí for every doctors appointment. This has become a struggle both physically and mentally for our aunt and has also taken a financial toll on her and the family.
Our family has set up a GoFundMe to help raise as much as possible to help with the cost of surgery, medications, and travel expenses. No amount is too small.
