Tonight we experienced the scariest situation with Paige. As I will forever own a Great Dane, this is my first experience with bloat. It came out of nowhere and it happened SO fast. It was a normal day she was happy as always nothing out of the ordinary. I made my famous ribs and gave her a few nibbles with her dinner, she ate normal not fast just like every other day and night. About 10 mins after she ate she was laying on her bed in front of the slider and I noticed she had saliva hanging from her mouth and then she started to act like she needed to throw up. I let her outside, stayed out there to make sure she was okay and she was not. It was not the usual eat grass because belly hurts it was she continuously tried to throw up and couldn't. It was different even in her posture......I went over felt her belly it was completely distended and hard as a rock. I knew I was going to experience what every Great Dane owner does not want to witness. Joe and I rushed her to the Vet ER within 30 minutes or less and got her there for them to confirm yes she had bloat and luckily we got her there in time for it not to turn. She is currently as I write this in EMERGENCY surgery to save her life. The surgery is going to cost us anywhere from $7000-$10,000. I had no choice but to save my child she is only 2 1/2 and has a wonderful life and I refuse to give up on her. She is my rock, as you all know she is my life and my best friend. I will keep everyone posted as I get updates from the surgeon. Please if you can donate any amount I will owe you a lifetime. Thank you to all of the wonderful dog owners out there that would do just as I am doing. Prayers Paige Mom and Dad love you and want you home.
