Help Save My Kindred Spirit Kitty ❤️
I never imagined I would be in a position where I had to ask for help like this, but today our family was given devastating news.
My sweet 11-year-old cat has been part of my family for years. She has always been tiny, gentle, and the most affectionate pet I’ve ever had. She has always been my little shadow. As the runt of her litter, she’s stayed tiny her entire life, and that only made me want to protect her even more. Wherever I am, she’s always there, ready to sit on me or whatever it is I’m doing. She’s been here with me through so many chapters of my life, coming to me when I needed her most after my brother passed away, and I can’t imagine coming home and not seeing her waiting for me.
For months, she has been struggling with chronic vomiting. We did everything our veterinarian recommended. We changed her diet multiple times, bought expensive digestive foods, switched her to an all-wet-food diet, gave her prescription medications, probiotics, hairball treatments, and followed every instruction we were given. We hoped every new change would finally be the answer.
Instead, she slowly became worse.
Recently she began vomiting every single day. She would become visibly nauseous before getting sick, and eventually she stopped wanting to eat. Our regular veterinarian’s office was unfortunately closed because of storm damage, so when she became dehydrated and wouldn’t eat, we rushed her to the emergency animal hospital.
What they found completely shocked us.
After bloodwork, X-rays, and an ultrasound, the veterinarians discovered that she has a metal object lodged inside her digestive tract. They told us she needs emergency surgery immediately to remove it. Without surgery, she will not survive.
We have no idea how this happened. We have spent months desperately trying to figure out why she was sick, never imagining that something like this could be hidden inside her all along.
The veterinarians are hopeful that if they can remove the object, she will recover.
Just when we thought we finally had our answer, our hearts were shattered all over again. During surgery, the veterinarians discovered nodules in her throat that have been biopsied and are believed to be cancerous. She will now need another surgery to remove them, along with continued treatment and follow-up care. After everything she has already endured, our little girl is facing yet another battle.
The veterinarians are hopeful that she can recover from this too, and that hope is what we’re holding onto.
Unfortunately, emergency surgery, hospitalization, imaging, anesthesia, medications, postoperative care, biopsy testing, and the additional surgery she now needs have come with an overwhelming cost that is far beyond what we were prepared for. We have already spent a significant amount trying to diagnose and treat her illness before we finally had this answer, and now we’re facing another major surgery to give her the best chance possible.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small the amount, it would mean the world to us and would go directly toward giving my sweet girl the surgeries, treatment, and care she needs to survive. If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing our fundraiser would help more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for keeping this angel in your thoughts. ♥️ I love her more than words can express, and we’re doing everything we can to give her the chance to come home where she belongs.
