Emergency Surgery for Comet

On November 30th around 6 pm Comet was hit by a car on Bay Arenac Line Rd in front of our house. Tyler and I rushed him to Great Lakes Pet Emergency in Saginaw where he had Xrays, bloodwork, and an ultrasound on his stomach. The bloodwork came back almost normal and he didn’t show any signs of fluid in his stomach which was all good news. But the Xrays showed multiple breaks in his Pelvis and in his left rear leg. At this point they recommended a specialist and said they could keep him comfortable over night until we could get him in somewhere that could help him and give us some more options on what the next steps were for him. At 8am this morning December 1st Tyler and I went back to Saginaw to get comet and take him to the oncologist that was expecting him. Once we arrived in Bloomfield at the Oakland Veterinary  referral center they gave Comet another exam, some pain meds and looked at the Xrays taken in Saginaw the night before.  After speaking with the specialist we were told we had three options. 1. Get a CT scan and fix multiple fractures (Femur and the hip joint) which was close to $10,000. 2. Only fix the femur don’t do the CT and hope the hip heals correctly with very strict bed rest with possible complications if it doesn’t heal correctly which was quoted around $7000. 3. Amputation of the left rear leg and strict bed rest so the pelvis can heal on its own which was quoted around $4500. With this information we called another emergency vets office nearby that a family member has been to in the past. They quoted us a much lower price so we checked him out and drove to Wilson Veterinary Hospital where he was checking in through the emergency center and evaluated for the third time. After everything that happened and everywhere we went I am so glad we ended up here. We got a phone call from the Doctor saying that they can fix the leg at a reasonable cost no problem and that there was no need to amputate. I am asking for donations to help pay for the multiple emergency visits and the surgery to fix Comets leg. I know times are hard right now but anything helps. My family is helping as much as they can but this is more than I can ask from them so now I would like to ask everyone else who may understand how I’m feeling or just love my little Comet. He’s one of the sweetest boys and is loved by EVERYONE! Please help out our fur baby.
