Our family vacation took an unexpected and scary turn. On April 26th, we arrived in California, excited to board a cruise ship the following morning. Instead of celebrating, my son-in-law, Chris Nelson, began feeling severely ill. What we hoped was a passing bug turned out to be much more serious: Chris was rushed to the emergency room, where doctors discovered a twisted bowel. He underwent emergency surgery immediately to save his life. While the surgery was successful, the road to recovery is just beginning. Chris remains in the hospital in California today, hundreds of miles from home, while his body heals from this major trauma.

Chris and his wife, Arin, are now facing a mountain of unexpected challenges. Emergency surgery and an extended stay in a California hospital are incredibly costly. While grandparents are looking after their kids, being out-of-state means Arin is navigating housing, food, and travel costs while staying near the hospital. As a family of five, the financial strain of Chris being unable to work during his recovery is a heavy weight to carry. Chris and Arin are the first people to help others in need, and it is our turn to surround them with love and support. Our goal is to alleviate the financial burden so Chris can focus entirely on healing and getting back home to his kids.
