Emergency Surgery following Stroke Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On December 9th, 2023, I was admitted into the Emergency Department at Lenox Hill Hospital with extreme head pain and unable to walk, speak, or see properly. It was quickly determined that I was suffering complications of a stroke, which was further pinpointed to having occurred three days prior. I was immediately transferred to their Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit who located the ruptured aneurysm, causing the subarachnoid hemorrhage that showed significant bleeding around the lower right portion of my brain.
Emergency surgery was performed in the form of coil embolization, where tiny springs of platinum were inserted into my ruptured artery to stop and control the internal bleeding. I remained in the ICU for thirteen more days, during which a second surgery was performed.
While I still have mobility and cognitive function, every aspect of my daily life has been affected. The initial recovery period for the surgery is six months of forfeited employment, and requires bedrest, physical and occupational therapy, and multiple follow-up appointments. Due to insurance restrictions I am not covered for these continued aids and am unable to financially support my recovery process or myself. I am in urgent need of help and assistance; Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you with all my heart for your love and support.
Sincerely,
Sydney
