I’m sharing this because an unexpected financial emergency has left my family without access to basic necessities, despite everything finally starting to stabilize.
I recently secured a stable job that is scheduled to begin at the end of January. While trying to buy groceries, I discovered my bank account had been frozen pending a fraud investigation. I currently cannot withdraw, deposit, or access any of the funds in that account while the review is ongoing.
There is a prior history of identity-related issues. Two years ago, my account activity was flagged and traced to use in another city or province. While I was cleared at that time, the current freeze appears related to suspected identity fraud. I am now in communication with the credit bureau and have an active case number, but the investigation process takes time. I was able to open a new account to receive e-Transfers, however all funds connected to the frozen account remain inaccessible.
This situation is especially urgent because I am the sole caregiver to medically fragile children. Two of my children live with cystic fibrosis, and another has a serious heart condition. Their conditions require regular medical appointments, transportation, medications, and a clean, stable environment. These needs can’t be paused while a banking investigation plays out.
Earlier this year, I briefly opened a fundraiser for different circumstances and closed it early. Since then, new and unavoidable issues, including suspected identity fraud and the sudden loss of banking access, have created an immediate crisis that I can’t manage without short-term support.
Funds raised will go toward groceries, medical-related transportation and care, and essential living expenses while my account remains frozen. The goal is stabilization until my employment income begins and full banking access is restored.
