Emergency Support for Working Artist in Crisis

I wrestled with doing this, but I'm in a place where I don't feel like I have a choice.

I’m a multidisciplinary artist based in Michigan — I work in art, music, performance, and creative gig work. Since being laid off from my part-time job of 5 years this Feb. shortly before moving into this new space, I’ve been relying on delivery apps and short-term gigs to get by while continuing my work in the arts. But right now, I’ve hit a wall.

I'm facing immediate financial pressure that I can no longer carry alone. I’m behind on key bills — including my car payment and basic utilities — and the gig work I’ve been doing hasn’t been enough to catch up. I’m doing what I can, but the costs keep stacking up, and I’ve reached the point where outside help is necessary. I've exhausted all of my savings and resources coming in are a cycle of paying the things that were already behind just to stay afloat.

I’ve been actively looking for stable work — applying, interviewing, putting out posts, and trying to find something that matches both my needs and schedule. I am currently either waiting on responses/next hiring steps, dealing with hiring delays, or hitting dead ends with jobs that don’t align with my circumstances. I’m not sitting still — I am trying, but these things are processes, and I am waiting.

I’m asking for $1,750 to help cover urgent expenses and provide a bit of breathing room. This isn’t a long-term solution — it’s a bridge to help me stabilize, keep my transportation, stay housed, and maintain access to the work I am doing.
