Emergency Support for Shaun and Erica

Hi everyone,

I'm fundraising for short term emergency help for our lovely friends Shaun and Erica.

Shaun recently developed a severe sinus infection that required emergency surgery and is facing a multiple day hospital stay.

Erica is paraplegic and needs round the clock care at home for her neurological condition. She requires help with transfers, movement, medication, and all activities of daily living. She cannot be home alone due to her lack of mobility.

Erica needs professional caregiving while Shaun is in the hospital and recovering.

I have found a respite care program near their home. Insurance does not cover this care so all costs are private pay. The cost is $300/day. Erica starts an intensive in home rehabilitation program on November 27th and has received approval to start home health aide services as well to help Shaun. I am asking for help covering the cost of 10 days of respite care to support them so that Shaun can prioritize taking care of himself and healing and can trust that Erica is safe and cared for. Any additional funds raised will go towards their deductible for the purchase of an electric wheelchair for her.

Erica had a major setback in her healing and rehabilitation for her neurological condition earlier this year due to a negligent facility allowing her to develop a significant infection in a wound from a bedsore. Shaun continues to go above and beyond to care for her as they have both been through hell with this entire ordeal. My hope is to give them both some help and peace of mind so they can get through this trying time.
