Emergency Support for Rockford Area Families Facing Income Disruptions
In recent weeks, families in the Rockford area have experienced sudden changes in their household income following ICE actions. These shifts have created financial gaps that make it difficult for families to keep up with rent and basic living expenses.
These are families who are part of the fabric of our community—neighbors whose children attend local schools, who contribute to local workplaces, and who are connected to Rockford in many ways. This is a critical need as Rockford area community straddles Wright and Hennepin County and we're far enough from the metro core that resources do not always reach this area. A little support can make a meaningful difference.
How This Fund Helps
Donations will be used to provide:
• Rent assistance for households at risk of falling behind in the Rockford area
• Help with utilities
• Limited emergency support for essentials
Funds are distributed through trusted community partners who ensure that support reaches those with the most immediate needs through a mutual aid approach. All requests for rent support are vetted for authenticity and receipts of payment are requested so that we can ensure funds are used accurately. We help as many families as we are able and in February were able to provide rent and utility support for 29 families. Payments are made directly to individuals families in most cases, and in some cases directly to the landlord.
