I have severe bipolar disorder and experienced a psychotic break in August after adverse work conditions made my disability much harder to manage. Since then, I've been on leave and receiving short-term disability, but after six months, those benefits are ending and transitioning to long-term disability. Unfortunately, this leaves a month-long gap where I won't have any income at all.
Because of this, I've received a 3-day notice to pay or quit from my landlord, and I'm nearly out of food and money. My phone and utilities are also at risk of being shut off soon. This situation has been incredibly stressful, and I'm doing my best to manage my mental health while facing these urgent challenges.
I'm working closely with local social services for support and want to remind everyone about my continued advocacy for United Way 2-1-1, which connects people to vital resources. The VA Mental Health Services have been invaluable in my recovery, and I'm actively attending group and individual therapy, along with psychiatry.
The funds raised here will go directly toward covering my rent, utilities, and basic support for this month. This help will allow me to stay housed and meet my essential needs while I wait for my long-term disability benefits to begin. It is my intent to return to work as soon as possible, and I have faith that my employer is doing what they can to accommodate my needs, despite the adversity I suffered last year.
I'm deeply grateful for the support I've received from my friends and family as I navigate my mental health challenges. I know times are tough for many, so I completely understand if you can't help right now. Your care and kindness mean the world to me, no matter what. Thank you for considering a donation or sharing my story.
