Three deadly ridges in 48 hours for Gazans facing genocide

Calling all friends and comrades.

Jerry (Reuben) and I want to raise as much money as possible to help Palestinians who are facing unimaginable suffering because of Israel's ongoing genocide in Gaza.

At least 40,000 people have been killed - including more than 15,000 children. Another 10,000+ people are missing and feared dead. The overwhelming majority of those killed were defenceless civilians.

But The Lancet, the world's most prestigious medical journal, says the death toll could rise to at least 186,000 people.

Human rights groups, long before October 7, have described the conditions imposed by Israel in Gaza as akin to an 'open-air prison'.

We're hoping to raise £1,500 for a charity in Gaza named Qurban which is on the front line supporting those trying to survive Israel's endless onslaught. The money will go towards emergency food (£500), shelter (£500), and medical supplies (£500).

Jerry and I will attempt three challenging Snowdonia mountain hikes (Grade 1 scrambles) in two days. We'll tackle the infamous knife-edge ridge, Crib Goch. We'll also take on Tryfan North Ridge and Bristly Ridge (with Sinister Gully). Not for the faint-hearted - we're told. In fact, between 8 and 10 people die every year scrambling Crib Goch.

Now for a little more detail on the situation in Gaza.

More than 50 per cent of all buildings and nearly 80 per cent of all homes in Gaza have been destroyed. About 97 per cent of all water in the enclave is undrinkable. More than 90 per cent of the population has been displaced.

Every single hospital has been destroyed. Nearly half a million people are approaching famine levels of hunger. Gaza has the highest number of child amputees in the world.

And still, the bombs continue.

So far, nearly 70,000 tons of bombs have been dropped on the tiny 141-square-mile enclave - one of the most densely populated places on earth.

Although their effects differ, this is equivalent to five or six times the power of the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima by the US during WWII, Scientists for Global Responsibility (SGR) estimates.
