Noel's Story

Hello, I hope this finds you well,

I’m Noel, a trans refugee. I had to flee my home county of Uganda due to the torture and persecution I faced for my sexuality and gender identity. I suffered through an attack by homophobes, where my home was burned and my partner was killed.

I now reside in Gorom refugee camp in South Sudan, but life here is unbearable. Myself and a group of over 40 other LGBTQ+ refugees live without food and medicine since Donald Trump and his administration cut off USAID to Africa.

Now I am fighting not only for myself, but also for vulnerable individuals, especially children, who find themselves in these circumstances. The weight of this responsibility is immense, but I remain determined to provide hope and support to those who need it most.

Why Your Help is Urgently Needed

Today, Noel stands in one of the most desperate points of their journey. Basic necessities such as food, shelter, and medical care are no longer within their reach.

Hunger is a constant struggle, and access to clean water is extremely limited. Unsafe living conditions leave them vulnerable to attacks and illnesses, with lack of proper healthcare only worsening these situations.

Despite these ever-present and overwhelming challenges, Noel refuses to let despair define their story. They believe in the power of kindness and empathy, and today, they are reaching out with hope that you might extend a helping hand.

Your donations will go directly toward providing daily meals and clean drinking water, improving living conditions and securing a safer space, accessing essential treatment and health services, and, if enough funds are raised, relocation to a more secure area.

All funds raised will be taken from GoFundMe by a representative in the US, and delivered directly to Noel via mobile transfer, ensuring that they can access them immediately for urgent needs.
