Support Kenji’s Recovery and Rebuilding His Life

Kenjiro Yamane (KENKEN) is a 22-year-old Japanese man who came to Australia on a working holiday to chase his dreams. He was living near Margaret River when a tragic accident changed his life.

A Devastating Surfing Accident

In late January, Kenji suffered a severe spinal cord injury (C6 vertebra fracture) while surfing. He is currently experiencing paralysis, though he has shown some signs of recovery. His right leg has regained movement, and his left leg can move slightly at the ankle and knee. However, his left hand remains mostly immobile, and paralysis persists on the left side of his body.

The Burden of Medical Expenses and the Challenge of Returning Home

Kenji underwent emergency surgery and intensive care in Australia. However, without insurance, his medical bills have become overwhelming. On top of that, returning to Japan for rehabilitation requires a wheelchair-accessible flight and a medical escort, which adds an enormous financial burden.

山根ケンジロウ（KENKEN）は22歳の日本人で、ワーキングホリデーでオーストラリアにやってきました。彼はマーガレットリバー近郊に住んでいましたが、ある悲劇的な事故によって人生が一変してしまいました。

衝撃的なサーフィン事故

1月下旬、ケンジはサーフィン中に深刻な脊髄損傷（C6椎骨骨折）を負いました。現在、身体に麻痺が残っていますが、少しずつ回復の兆しも見え始めています。右足は動くようになってきており、左足は足首や膝がわずかに動く状態です。しかし、左手はほとんど動かず、左半身には依然として麻痺が残っています。

医療費の負担と帰国の困難

ケンジはオーストラリアで緊急手術を受け、集中治療を受けました。しかし、保険に加入していなかったため、医療費の負担が非常に大きくなっています。さらに、リハビリのために日本へ帰国するには、車椅子対応のフライトと医療エスコートが必要となり、多額の費用がかかります。
