Emergency Support for John Revels' Healing

Donation protected
This is my daddy, John Revels.

He had a hemorrhagic stroke on Thursday, April 17th, which is a brain bleed. He was feeling numbness while at work and wrote a note to his coworker, Jason, explaining a little bit and asked to meet in another room. When they met, Jason knew he was having a stroke and told him to have a seat; about that time, he lost all feeling in his left side and fell out. Jason contacted me on Facebook to give him a call that it was about my dad. I told him to send him to St. Michael’s.

My mom and I met him at the ER entrance and immediately knew it was neurological by the way he was acting. He wasn’t truly aware of what was going on, couldn’t swallow, and was moving his right arm in a constant up and down motion.

The staff immediately started working. They got him into a CT, and he aspirated, causing them to not be able to finish the scan (but showing enough to know what kind of stroke), but also making it where he had to be intubated. Within less than 2 hours, they had prepped the OR for emergency surgery to relieve the pressure on his brain.

Surgery went as well as it could’ve. They got the bleeding to stop, drained all that they could, and put a draining tube in.

The nurses didn’t seem hopeful, but little did they know they were talking to someone that stands firm on the word of God.

As I’m sitting here writing this, the last few days were a blur. They did neuro checks every several hours, which is just looking at pupils to see if they dilate, with no luck. Around 2 pm, I was talking to him, and I asked him to squeeze my hand if he could hear me, and my daddy squeezed my hand. They did a neuro check not long after, and sure enough, there was dilation! Saturday was about the same. Sunday came, and that morning I was sitting with him, and his blood pressure was sitting at 130, which is fantastic, and all of a sudden, his heart rate and BP shot up to over 200. I tried to stay calm and grabbed the nurse. She tried to get him to calm down but came to the conclusion that he wanted the tube out. They ran and got the doctor, and he said, “Take it out!” Immediately, his BP came down to 140. He was breathing on his own! Praise the Lord, we are going in the right direction. As the day went on, he became less responsive, so they ordered a CT, and it showed a lot of swelling, and he was put on steroids to help with inflammation.

Monday, 4/21 - the doctor said he’s going in and out of a stroke coma, which was a little devastating and not the news we were wanting. We were asked to step out of the room this afternoon, and my mom ran home to feed our dogs. When I went back, there were a couple of PTs in the room and had him sitting up. His eyes were open, and when I said, “I’m right here, daddy,” he lost it and started crying really hard. We both did. He still can’t speak or move that much other than his right hand, but we are heading in the right direction.

God is moving and working, and I’m standing firm that my dad is going to be a miracle, a walking testimony!

4/25- my dad has not responded to us since Monday. Not in the way they are wanting or needing him to. He will occasionally open his eyes but there’s not been dilation. No more squeezes of his hand. We believe he’s in a coma state. Just praying now that this state is a time for rest and healing and restoration! He is 8 days out from the stroke and it’s still too early to finalize anything. It’s just hard seeing him so responsive and now a standstill. God is the same God that worked all those miracles, he did it then, he can do it now! And I’m still standing on my faith, on my God, that he’s working a miracle in my dads body.

During this time, my mom is going to need help financially with everything. If you feel led and are able to help the burden of her load, please consider helping us. She was talking about getting a part-time job, but she needs to be here with my dad.

If you can’t help, please just pray that my daddy is going to make it through this, and like I said, be a walking, talking testimony.
