Emergency Support for Hip Mommies
On October 29th the unthinkable happened.
Joey and his wife Jennifer are not your typical 30-somethings with a 3-year old daughter living in Toronto.
They're the founders and operators of Hip Mommies , an ethically conscious distribution company that believes in making a difference for families around the world.
Their business distributes products in Canada, much like Amazon does. But unlike Amazon, they don't have billions of dollars or hoards of employees and they ONLY carry responsibility made products that are non-toxic and made by inspiring companies that include the brands Green Beaver, Doodle & Co, and ezpz.
Like many small business owners, they do the daily work themselves to run and operate the business, often bringing their 3-year old alongside their work.
While driving to the warehouse on October 29th, Joey had a stroke which caused a collision. He was having seizures when the paramedics arrived and was quickly transferred to hospital.
He is recovering well, but suffers from mild cognitive and mobility issues that typically follow a stroke and collision. To make matters worse, the medical team are unable to determine the cause of the stroke and subsequent seizures. He is not a drinker, smoker, or drug user. He's gluten free for crying out loud!
Joey needs time to rest, heal, and rebuild his motor skills and cognition. But like any hard-core business owner, he wants to get back to work right away. And like any family run business, they rely on both of them working to support themselves and the community they serve. They never could imagine being forced to slow down unexpectedly.
This family have dedicated the last decade of their lives to helping other small businesses and families in Canada and now...

We are a group of entrepreneur friends of Joey and Jennifer that understand how devastating a leave of absence from the business can be for the family financial situation.
Your support doesn't just help this family. It also helps the many people behind the brands they carry, the nearly 300 independent local stores they serve, and the thousands of families that benefit from the products.

- Temporary warehouse staff to help with the day-to-day operation while Joey recovers
- Childcare so Jennifer can take on full-time work at the warehouse
- Uncovered medical expenses and therapy
