- A
I was born in Lebanon, a country known for its resilience, warmth, and strong sense of community. I later moved to London where I built my life and career as a businessman. But no matter where life takes you, your homeland always remains a part of you.
In the early hours of Monday 2nd March, families across parts of Lebanon woke to the terrifying sounds of intense bombardment and urgent warnings telling them to leave their homes immediately. Within hours, thousands of people were forced to gather whatever they could carry and flee to safety.
Homes were left behind, belongings abandoned, and entire communities suddenly displaced.
My own family were among the fortunate ones who managed to find safety and a warm place to stay. Sadly, many others were not so lucky. Families have been forced to seek shelter in overcrowded schools, temporary buildings, and makeshift camps. Some are sleeping in tents, cars, or even on the streets with young children and elderly relatives.
For many of them, the most basic necessities - food, water, blankets, mattresses, nappies, and medicine - have suddenly become urgent needs.
Like many Lebanese living abroad, watching this unfold from afar has been heartbreaking. I wanted to help immediately, but one challenge kept coming to mind: knowing where donations truly go. Too often, large organisations cannot provide clear information about exactly who receives the help.
So instead of waiting and wondering, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I have entrusted my brother and cousin who are currently in Lebanon to go directly into affected areas and find families who are truly in need. With the help of close friends and family who have already donated, we have been able to start helping by providing nappies, blankets, mattresses, food, clean water, medicine, and other essential supplies to displaced families.
But the reality is that the need is far greater than what we can currently provide.
That is why we decided to set up this fundraiser - so people can clearly see where their donations are going and who they are helping. Our goal is simple: to provide urgent support to families who have been forced to leave their homes and are struggling to meet their most basic needs.
We will continue sharing updates so donors can see exactly how their generosity is making a difference on the ground.
The Lebanese people have endured countless hardships over the years, yet their strength and resilience remain extraordinary. Together, we can help provide some relief during this incredibly difficult time.
In addition to helping displaced families, 10% of all funds raised will also go to support an animal shelter in South Lebanon that is very close to our hearts.
The shelter is run by Mr. Houssein Hamze from Mashala Shelter, a man whose compassion and courage are truly remarkable. During the
many conflicts Lebanon has faced, when many people are forced to leave the area for safety, he has chosen to stay behind to protect animals that would otherwise be left alone.
Despite the dangers around him, he continues rescuing, feeding, and caring for hundreds of innocent animals that have been abandoned or injured. While many are trying to escape the violence, he stays to ensure these animals are not forgotten.
Your support will help provide food and care for these animals and allow the shelter to continue its life-saving work.
Every single donation - no matter how small - will make a real difference. Together we can provide food, warmth, medicine, and hope to families who have lost so much, while also helping protect the animals that depend on the kindness of one incredibly brave man.
Thank you for standing with Lebanon and for helping those who need it most.
Updates and evidence of aid distribution will be shared with donors.
With Gratitude,
Hussein Zaidan.
