My partner and I are a disabled trans couple who were recently relocated to south Texas after the hurricanes in North Carolina destroyed our housing stability. We are doing everything we can to rebuild our lives, but the system has been slow to catch us. We are both in the process of securing SSI disability benefits, but due to the current government administration’s delays, our applications are taking far longer than expected. Because of this, we are facing an immediate housing emergency.
My partner is blind in one eye and lives with POTS and Fibromyalgia, which severely limits her mobility and ability to perform daily tasks on her own. I am struggling with acute arthritis and recently lost my car due to someone else’s negligence, which has made accessing medical care and resources even more difficult.
With winter storms now hitting Texas, being without stable housing is dangerous and potentially life‑threatening for both of us. The funds we are asking for would allow us to stay somewhere safe and warm while we wait for our benefits to be approved. Your support would also help us cover essentials such as:
• Critical medical care (doctor visits, medications, and hospital needs)
• Food and basic necessities
• Temporary housing during the severe cold weather
Any help—whether through donations or simply sharing this fundraiser—makes a real difference. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for helping us stay safe while we fight for stability.
Please stay safe out there, and thank you for supporting us in these challenging times.
