Support Beth “Bernie” Tabanera as She Fights for Her Life Again
Beth “Bernie” Tabanera is currently in the ICU at Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles after suffering her second brain hemorrhage, compounded by a recent stroke. She is in critical condition, and the long, uncertain road to recovery has already begun.
On behalf of Beth’s family, friends, and her extensive community, we are raising $25,000 (or more) to help cover her growing medical expenses, long-term rehabilitation, and basic living costs during this crisis. Beth is unable to work and is facing immense financial strain.
What Happened
In early October, Beth felt a sudden, severe headache and made the courageous decision to take herself to the emergency room. Doctors quickly confirmed the unthinkable: she had suffered a second brain hemorrhage — a life-threatening emergency requiring immediate, intensive intervention.
This is not the first time Beth has faced such trauma. During her previous medical crisis, she endured the removal of nearly one-third of her skull, over 500 staples, multiple surgeries, and weeks in the Neuro-ICU. She experienced temporary amnesia and had to relearn basic functions like walking and eating — but through sheer faith and determination, she fought her way back.
Now Beth is fighting again — and she needs us more than ever.
What Beth Needs
Beth will remain under close medical supervision for an extended period. In the coming weeks and months, she will require:
- Ongoing ICU care and hospital monitoring
- Comprehensive rehabilitation (speech, physical, and occupational therapy)
- A second brain surgery once swelling subsides
- Full-time in-home care and assistance with daily activities
- Support for food, housing, transportation, and basic living expenses
Even with health insurance, her out-of-pocket medical costs and day-to-day expenses are overwhelming. Beth cannot face this alone.
How You Can Help
Beth has always shown up for others — with kindness, faith, and unshakable strength. Now, it’s our turn to show up for her.
Your contribution will help:
- Cover critical care and rehabilitation not paid for by insurance
- Ensure Beth has food, housing, and essentials during recovery
- Offset her lost income over the many months she will be unable to work
- Create a safe, stable environment for her healing and long-term care
No donation is too small. If you’re not able to give financially, please consider sharing this page with others and keeping Beth in your thoughts and prayers.
A Story She Once Shared — Now Her Reality Again
Before this medical crisis, Beth wrote a book called A Faithful Fight For Life — a brave account of how she survived unimaginable odds including open-heart surgery, elbow surgery and Bell's palsy. Her message was simple: life is not just to be survived, but lived with faith, courage, and purpose.
Now, Beth is living the next chapter of that story — one she never wanted to write. She’s facing the same type of life-threatening battles she only recently wrote about, but this time, she needs help from the same community she inspired.
The Road Ahead
Beth’s journey has always been one of courage and purpose. She has inspired so many through her willingness to share her story of survival and faith. Today, she faces the hardest battle yet — one she cannot face alone.
Please join us in supporting Beth through this unimaginable time. Together, we can help her overcome what lies ahead and give her the time and space she needs to heal.
Thank you for your generosity, prayers, and support.
