Hello, my name is Rama. I am a 16-year-old queer girl from Uganda.
My life changed forever when Uganda passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill, turning an already dangerous life into a death sentence for people like me. I had no choice but to run for my life, leaving behind my home, my family and everything I knew.
I first escaped to Kenya hoping for safety but things only got worse. In the refugee camp, I was beaten, stripped naked, and attacked with machetes just for being who I am. I lost everything: my health, my dignity and nearly my life. I begged for help. No one came.
I fled again this time to South Sudan. It was the only place I could reach, even though it is one of the most dangerous places in the world. Now I am in Gorom Refugee Camp, where there is no food, no clean water, no medicine and no protection for people like me.
But I am not alone. I am with a group of 19 other queer youth transgender and lesbian young people like me, some even younger. We are struggling together, surviving together. Most of us have been rejected by our families, targeted for who we are and left with nowhere else to turn. I do everything I can to support them, even when I’m sick or hungry myself.
The government has already told us we must leave the camp. The deadline has passed. We live in fear that any day now, we will be evicted or worse. We have nowhere else to go.
We urgently need your help.
Your donation will help us get:
Emergency food and clean water
Shelter and protection from violence
Medicine and basic health care
Hygiene supplies especially for the girls in our group
Support for relocation and safety
We are not asking for much. We are just asking for the chance to live. To survive and be treated as human beings.
Please donate if you can. Share this campaign. Let people know what is happening to queer refugees like us.
Your kindness can save our lives.
Thank you so much

3.I am a trusted online friend of Adams, a transgender refugee currently living in Gorom Refugee Camp, South Sudan. I’ve known him through LGBTQ+ advocacy and online refugee support networks. I am organizing this fundraiser on his behalf because he cannot access GoFundMe directly.
4.Once withdrawn to my Canadian bank account, I will transfer the funds directly to Adams using a secure remittance service such as Western Union, WorldRemit, or Sendwave, whichever is most reliable and accessible in his location..
5.The funds will be spent as shown below:
• Urgent medical care and medication
• Food and clean water
• Shelter and basic hygiene supplies
• Transport and relocation assistance if needed
Updates will be posted here, and all donations will be used exactly as described.
