Emergency: Help Strays Home Relocate

Hello, my name is Romana Bhatti, and I am helping Strays Home during this crisis.

Strays Home Animal Rescue Foundation is a registered Non-Profit with a valid mandate for animal rescue and rehabilitation, working in Pakistan since 2017.

Message from Strays Home:

We have worked tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and treat over 16,000 animals, including dogs, cats, birds & equines, offering them a second chance at life. Our shelter is a no-kill, kennel-free shelter with currently 300+ injured, sick, disabled & abandoned animals. Our team goes above and beyond, often providing free treatment to dozens of animals in a single day. But our commitment doesn't end there. We have been rescuing, rehabilitating, sheltering & rehoming animals from Islamabad and all the surrounding cities where there’s no rescue service or shelter, so no animal has to suffer without veterinary care.

Working in a country rife with animal abuse, after years of legal battle, we achieved a significant milestone by stopping dog culling in the capital city through the implementation of a Population control program, which includes spaying/neutering, vaccinating, and releasing. However, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) soon began picking up dogs, confining them to the facility, which was created in the name of the Stray Dog Population Control Centre, and starving them to death without food or medical care in cold temperatures. When we spoke out against this cruelty, we faced backlash and pressure to vacate our shelter, which is home to 300+ animals, many of whom are disabled or paralyzed.

The authorities are now using every tactic to evict us, disregarding the lives of our animals. With winter setting in, the situation is dire, and we're being forced to relocate to save our animals from certain harm. We've explored legal avenues, but in Pakistan, animal welfare often takes a backseat. We're now seeking help to find a haven for our animals away from the city, where there is no threat of being harassed or evicted.

Our goal is to protect these vulnerable lives and continue our mission. We are the only Rehabilitation facility in the region that offers treatment and therapy to disabled (companion) animals with a success rate of 80% especially concerning hit and run cases suffering from trauma and nerve injuries.

We urgently require to arrange for a space to evict our animals. The estimated cost of the relocation to a rental farm is £7000 & breakdown is given below ⬇️

£1700 to secure the place (3 months Advance+security+dealer)
£1600 for reinstalling fencings & partitions
£1500 to build dog houses/kennels, material (1 trolley each of bricks, sand & gravel) + labor cost
£1200 for booking trucks for transportation for all 300 dogs to the new location
£1000 for reinstalling cameras, wiring, new electric points, lights, gas cylinder, water tank, water connection points

My name is Romana Bhatti, and I am the Vice Chair of Todd’s Welfare Society (TWS) — a small, registered non-profit organization based in Lahore, Pakistan, founded in 2016. I am currently based in the U.K., where I raise funds for TWS so that as many vulnerable animals as possible can be rescued, treated, and given the love and care they deserve. I am running this fundraiser as a favour to Strays Home, and please note that all funds raised will be transferred to them. We will not be benefiting from this fundraiser. We are helping them during this crisis
