Emergency Service Challenge - TBL Donations

Everest Base Camp Trek - Emergency Service Challenge - 2023

We had planned to do this trek in May 2023, but unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the trek had to be postponed until a new date of 19th October - 5th November 2023. We have also added another trek which takes place from 24th September - 8th October 2023, where a smaller group will be going first!

We have gathered a team of nearly 30 willing volunteers who want to walk up to Mount Everest Base Camp to raise money for their chosen charities. There will be members from both the Police forces in the UK and the London Ambulance Service; these two blue light services are coming together to support their colleagues. You will see all members of both teams updating these pages next year.

We have chosen two charities to support with the funds raised by this event: Thin Blue Line UK (TBL) for the police and The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC) for the LAS. These two charities have shown us tremendous support so far, and we will try to raise as much as we can for them. Each charity has its GoFundMe page.

We are raising money and awareness for mental health and well-being initiatives for front-line emergency services. We have had an unprecedented two years with many colleagues staying in hotels, away from families and loved ones, for up to 6 months. Some are still suffering from the effects of Covid-19, and some have even paid the ultimate price for keeping the capital safe during the pandemic. Our staff are under increasing pressure as the cost of living crisis and budget cuts have increased their stress; we have seen a significant increase in referrals for those in crisis.

The original donation page that was set up for the trek can be found here; This page is no longer in use but the funds raised through it have been shared between Thin Blue Line UK and TASC.

Any more money from this point onwards will go into the individual pot on each of the fundraising pages below:

Thin Blue Line UK

Police officers do a difficult and dangerous job on the ground yet seem to get attacked from all sides. Numbers are being cut, and crime and the personal danger to officers increase on a daily basis. Officers go out to work in the morning to serve the public whatever the day brings. The only thing they want is to know that they will get home again that evening to see their family. Unfortunately, as recent events show this cannot always be guaranteed. This page is set up to enable those who want, to show support for the police and to remember those who paid the ultimate price.

Thin Blue Line UK is a charity for police officers run by police officers and we are here to promote mental health and well-being as well as support organisations treating injured officers. Please get in touch if you need access to the Thrive Mental Health and well-being App.

Thank you very much for even taking the time to read this, and if you can donate, however small, please do. Every little bit will make such a big difference in someone’s life.
