Help Sue Repair Her Home After the Long Lake Wildfire
Hello, my name is Sue.
I was one of the residents evacuated during the Long Lake Wildfire. While I am deeply grateful that my home was saved, the efforts to protect it have unfortunately caused damage that I am now struggling to repair.
My roof is only about 12 years old, but during the wildfire, large amounts of water were poured on it to keep the house from catching fire. Since then, the roof has fallen into disrepair and is now leaking. Unfortunately, the water has gotten under the shingles and may have damaged some of the wood underneath as well.
I am a senior living on a pension, and like many people in rural areas, I have not been able to obtain home insurance. This makes unexpected repairs like this especially difficult.
I have lived in this home for 23 years. Over the years, I have spent much of my time helping others and rescuing animals in my community. Now I find myself in a position where I truly need some help.
The funds raised will be used to repair or replace the roof so that my home is safe and dry again. I am not looking for anything fancy just a simple, reliable roof that will stop the leaks. Because the water has already entered the house, there is also some damage to the ceilings and walls. If any funds remain after the roof repair, they will go toward fixing that interior damage.
Please note that although the page lists Granville Ferry, I actually live in West Dalhousie and cannot change the location listed on the platform.
So far, we have raised $2,365.00., and I am incredibly grateful for every bit of support.
Any help whether through a donation or by sharing this fundraiser would mean so much to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
With gratitude,
Sue
